Athletics at Paris 2024
An Introduction to three preview articles, looking at fun things in Athletics for the 2024 Olympics.
*Note: I am publishing this separately and as a notification to avoid flooding your inboxes I had three different posts that were published “silently” so to speak, and this serves as a notification and collection of those articles with links.
Introduction
The Olympics are well underway at this point, but one sport is always on my mind: running. Surprise, surprise!
While I love consuming as much of the Olympics as possible, I definitely have favorite sports that I never want to miss, and track and field is at the top of that list. Track and field events begin TOMORROW, and this runner, writer, and Olympic enthusiast could not be more excited.
I have always been a fan of the Olympics and once even dreamed of being an Olympian (though my athletic endeavors never got me that far). I have always loved seeing the pinnacle of athletics every four years. I enjoy watching all of the events, but as a runner, track and field is the highlight of my Olympic viewing experience.
For those in the running community, and beyond, who follow this publication, I want to talk about five storylines on both the men’s and women’s sides of athletics that I am looking forward to as we get closer to athletics beginning. Initially, I planned to keep it as one article, but I have too many thoughts to fit into just one (is anybody really surprised by this?). So, I will cover my previews in a few different posts linked here:
You can also follow along with the Olympics in general or more specifically track and field through some of these sources:
Paris Olympics - The Official Olympics website. You can check out all of the things Olympics-related, and even look ahead to future games. I would also encourage the schedule section where you can see entries and results to all of the events.
NBC Olympics - The Official home of NBC’s coverage of the Olympics. NBC holds the primary broadcast rights for the Olympics in the United States.
Citius Mag - Possibly one of my most favorite Track and Field outlets for news and conversations. The Citius Mag team has podcasts galore, a YouTube page with regular live streams throughout the Track and Field portion of the Olympics, and a blog with several contributors. Citius Mag also created these awesome graphics with the schedule and where to watch. Check them out:
World Athletics - The Official World Athletics page with information from around the Track and Field World. All athlete profiles linked in posts come from this site.
