Thought for the Week
Well if you haven’t seen it yet, my new podcast “Run Build Grow: Exploring the Communal Spirit of Running” is live (…well the first episode has officially been released). It truly has been a journey of getting this podcast going. The idea itself has been a few years in the making.
The original intention behind the Active Faith Podcast had been to highlight self-care through movement (and leaning on my running experience). However, through conversations on the podcast and my clergy colleague network, I noticed the direction of that podcast needed a change to focus more on the self-care aspect of our health and wellness. This meant focusing on a more holistic nature of self-care as opposed to honing in on the running or active movement aspects of it.
As I continued to experience the joys of running and community the draw of a running podcast that explored this wonderful nature continued to speak to me. As I ran in my community in Hampton Roads through RunSomeMo, J&A Racing, and Tidewater Striders there were so many stories I wanted to tell.
I also wanted to share stories from other running communities as well, knowing that there is so much that is offered by exploring the communal spirit of running.
This first episode with Melissa Moser got me excited, as have recording and beginning to edit the first handful.
I hope you enjoy this podcast, and share it with others as I hope to grow this community.

Rev. On the Run
This past week was a renewing week on the run. I turned off the training plan, the pace alerts, and even took it all out of my mind. This is why I say it was renewing. I didn’t care how far or even fast I ran, I just let my legs get some miles.
While I turned all that off and got back to the root of my running, my mind is still looking towards Shamrock. However, I am letting go of the goal to run faster than 1:30. I want to have fun in this half marathon. I am confident that I will run faster than 1:30 for a half marathon, and I am fine with that not happening this year.
Weekly Mileage: 21.3 Miles
Around the Network
My first blog post of the year (which is actually about last year).
At church, I began a new series as I also began another calendar year of preaching. Check out the first sermon in the series, Speak: Listening to God’s Voice After Epiphany.
New Year means new goals and a new round of awesome races I love to participate in. My first race of the year (as of now) is going to be the Shamrock Marathon Weekend. I am registered for the 8k and Half Marathon (the Dolphin Challenge) at this point. Check out the race yourself and register if interested (click here)
